Event Description

This event will be an opportunity to hear about the importance of diversity in organisations and what Ofcom is doing.

About this event

People and businesses across the UK are becoming increasingly dependent on our communications networks. As the importance of good connections increases, these networks may become a more attractive target to attackers. So, it is important to make sure they are secured against this evolving threat to prevent disruptions that can also affect other sectors.

Investment in improving the security and resilience of our communications networks has never been more critical. Through the UK Government’s new Telecoms Security Act, Ofcom will be taking on new responsibilities to monitor operators’ compliance against the new security framework.

In addition to attracting talent to the exciting opportunities at Ofcom, we want to promote the importance of being a diverse and inclusive organisation and bringing diversity into our cyber-security roles.

Join us for our Women in Cyber event, which will provide an opportunity to hear about the importance of diversity in organisations like ours, and what Ofcom is doing to promote greater diversity.

We will also have a panel of women in senior leadership roles who will share their career journeys, steps their organisations have taken to promote diversity and discussing what more can be done to increase diversity in cyber security and inspire women to forge a career in it.

The event includes a keynote speech by Ofcom Chief Executive Dame Melanie Dawes, and a talk on developing cyber capabilities by UK Cyber Security Council ChairDr Claudia Natanson, followed by panel discussions:

• Career challenges and overcoming them Leveraging strengths, skills and experience, and how careers can be pursued in cyber security. What challenges were faced, and steps taken to overcome them.

• Promoting diversity and inclusionWhat more can be done to increase diversity and inspire women to forge a career in cyber security. How can organisations create a culture that enables everyone to flourish regardless of gender?
