Our client is a European leader in the sales of high-tech components, systems and scientific instrumentation, with offices and warehouses in France, Italy, Spain and the UK.
The Position
Job Title: Apprentice Engineer
Apprenticeship Course: Level 3 Digital Information Communication Technician
Apprenticeship Duration: Approx. 18 months + EPA
Location: Basingstoke
Working Hours: Monday – Friday
Salary: £14,000 depending on age and experience
Job Purpose
To develop an apprentice Engineer with the aim to:
Provide additional cover in the workshop for the testing and repair of broadcast and RF and satellite modem equipment
Provide office-based applications support for our customers
Get involved in system build, on-site installation and test
Provide on-site application support (overseas and UK) for our customers
Key Responsibilities
To learn the skills required in the Engineering department and develop the following:
Technical ability to understand the electronics equipment sold by the company to a level where their functionality can be proven before shipment
A deeper understanding of the equipment that we repair
Use of RF and telecoms test equipment
Fault finding
Repair of equipment at board level
Application knowledge in IP Networks, Video transmission and RF Systems system building and test
Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:
Educated in subjects that prove the ability to analyse, reason and prove, eg STEM subjects
Good written and oral communication skills with both customers and colleagues
Adherence to procedures
Work towards unaccompanied overseas travel for support
Educated to A-level standard with good qualifications in Mathematics and Science
Full UK Driving licence
Time management and flexibility
Good communication skills
Ability to think beyond the assigned task and desire to understand the application
To take pride in the result of their efforts
Good organisation and planning skills
Confident – not too shy to ask ‘’why?’’
A commitment to outstanding customer service and satisfaction
Eligibility Criteria
Individuals must have a valid and eligible residency status to apply for this role.
Full driving licence.
