2023 - a year in review

As we bid farewell to 2023, we want to share a snapshot of the activities that have defined our work this year. From new partnerships and fantastic events to celebrations of inspiring people within our industry and our own award victories, we've loved every moment!

  • ITP hosted the first member Insight Visit of 2023 to the 6G Innovation Centre at the University of Surrey Research and Innovation.

  • We caught up with our 2022 Diversity Champion of the Year, Jackie Parker, in an exclusive interview.

  • Celebrated Kid Inventor's Day and Education Day!

  • Welcomed a new Partner, Systems & Network Training Ltd.

  • Paul Beaumont was awarded with Fellowship of the ITP.


  • We celebrated National Apprenticeship Week by catching up with some of our apprentices, past and present, to hear about their apprenticeship journeys.

  • Interviewed the 2022 Apprentice of the Year Winner, Rebecca Franchi.

  • Announced our partnership with ESP, increasing our apprenticeship offerings to a whopping 31 standards!

  • Charlotte Goodwill was interviewed by WeAreTechWomen to discuss career development through apprenticeships and the barriers we face to recruit more Females into Tech.

  • We caught up with Roger Ward, ITP's Technical Sourcing Manager to talk about his career in the industry and what he's up to now.

  • The launch of the 2023 annual industry awards!


  • Celebrated International Women's Day!

  • Welcomed new additions to the ITP's Editorial Board, Rab Alabbas and Kieran Smithers.

  • Nadia Bailey joined the ITP as a Business Development Executive.

  • We announced that ITP's Chair, Kevin Paige, had made the decision to step down from his role on the ITP board and opened up the position for applications.

  • ITP's Smart Cities Seminar at BT Tower was announced.

  • Raised awareness for World Down Syndrome Awareness Day.

  • Glenn Dunwell was awarded with Fellowship of the ITP.

  • We exhibited at Channel Live and Charlotte Goodwill took part in two panel discussions on Surfing the Skillset and Diversity in Digital.

  • Joined forces with EH20 Telecom Group to provide talent services to the industry.

  • The first ITP Journal Edition of 2023 landed on our members desks!


  • Connect-WorldICT published an article from Charlotte Goodwill and Kevin Paige on the importance of apprenticeships in STEM industries.

  • We celebrated the cohort of apprentices who had graduated from their apprenticeships in 2023 so far.

  • Lauren Holloway and Demi Pearce experienced a Day in the Life of an Installation Technician with Vorboss.

  • Chris Havenhand was awarded Fellowship of the ITP.

  • Sue Langridge and Joe Kimber attended the UKTIN kick-off event.

  • We were shortlisted for the Diversity in the Workplace Award at CommsBusiness 2023 Awards!

  • ITP Board Director, Dave Davis, flew the ITP flag at the Beacon Academy Careers Fair.


  • Danielle Tracey joined the ITP as Operations Apprentice.

  • We hosted our Smart Cities Seminar at BT Tower and took our members on a visit to the top of the tower for lunch!

  • Charlotte Goodwill spoke on a Podcast with Heron Wellness about the importance of Wellbeing in the Workplace.

  • The ITP team supported Mental Health Awareness week by speaking openly about their experiences with anxiety.

  • Charlotte Goodwill shared her thoughts on the Industry's Talent Problem in Capacity Media's Power 100 Edition.

  • We were shortlisted for the Apprentice Champions award at Comms Dealer's Channel Champions 2023 awards.


  • Tim Creswick was announced as the new Chair of the ITP.

  • Dr. Tulsi Pawan Fowder was awarded with Fellowship of the ITP.

  • We teamed up with Mpirical to conduct an important piece of research.

  • Charlotte Goodwill was appointed as Vice Chair for the Intermediary Ambassador Network for the Department of Education.

  • Announced our Partnership with Firebrand to further strengthen our Technical Apprenticeship offerings for industry.

  • Charlotte Goodwill was awarded one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering winners by The Women's Engineering Society.

  • We welcomed three new board members; Josh Fowler, Joanna Parker and Nigel Linge.

  • We said our goodbyes and thanked Andy Valdar and Stuart Blythe after many years of service on the ITP board.


  • We celebrated our award Sponsors.

  • Attended the Channel Champions 2023 Awards.

  • WON the Apprentice Champions Award at Channel Champions 2023!

  • Paul Harris was awarded with Fellowship of the ITP.

  • Sue Langridge dined out at the 81 Signal Squadron's Summer Ball and the WCIT Summer Banquet.

  • We spoke with one of ITP's Fellows, Dr. Ben Allen on his reasons for becoming a Fellow.

  • Richard Curwood was awarded with Fellowship of the ITP.

  • We attended the 2023 CommsBusiness Awards and walked away with Highly Commended for Diversity in the Workplace.

  • Announced another member Insight Visit to BT's Innovation & Research Centre at Adastral Park.

  • The second edition of the ITP Journal landed on our members desks.

  • We published an article by one of ITP's fabulous Fellows, Pritesh Ganatra, on the PTSN switch off.


  • Announced Partner Event: Defence in Space Conference 2023, where Charlotte Goodwill was part of the steering committee.

  • Alan Bullock, Tony Lee and Richard Jones were awarded with Fellowship of the ITP.

  • We celebrated some more of our incredible apprentices who graduated from their apprenticeship programmes.

  • Sue Langridge spoke with the team at Ricoh about the benefits of ITP membership and provided some important industry insights on the skills landscape.

  • Joe Kimber and Demi Pearce hosted an in person assessment day for Optinet and Pulse Fibre.

  • Our partnership with Connected Britain was announced.

  • We introduced our wonderful Judges for the ITP awards.

  • Judging of the ITP award entries commenced!

  • We continued to showcase our award sponsors!


  • We announced the finalists of the ITP Awards 2023.

  • Supported Total Telecom as an Association Partner at Connected Germany.

  • Jamie Merrell was awarded Fellowship of the ITP.

  • We announced the details of the ITP's Digital Futures Seminar taking place at BT One Braham.

  • Charlotte Goodwill took part on the panel to discuss the skills gap at the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology's Ministerial Announcement of the Open Networks Event.

  • The team exhibited at Connected Britain 2023.

  • Charlotte Goodwill took part in the 'Delivering Digital Skills: from community organisations to government, who is driving education?' panel at Connected Britain.

  • Charlotte Goodwill and Joe Kimber attended a careers fair in Guildford.

  • Charlotte Goodwill published a blog on her findings from the recent careers fair, the results were interesting!


  • The ITP annual awards 2023 took place at The Royal Lancaster, London. What a night!

  • Announced as an Association Partner for Total Telecoms Congress, Amsterdam.

  • The third edition of the ITP Journal landed on our members desks.

  • We were proud to support the Student of the Year award for Ubi-Tech.

  • Claire Jacques and Darren Zitren were awarded with Fellowship of the ITP.

  • Charlotte Goodwill co-hosted the Department for Education Intermediary Ambassador Network meeting as Vice Chair of the Network.

  • We published exclusive post-ITP awards interviews with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champion of the year winner, Justin Harris and Outstanding Contribution to an Individual's Development winner, Andy Collins.

  • James Flitton was announced as Associate Director of the ITP.


  • We hosted out Digital Futures Seminar at BT One Braham.

  • Partnered with RICS to support their UK Telecoms Conference.

  • Andy Valdar announced as an Associate Director of the ITP.

  • Maria Cuevas, Julie Osborne and Craig Chiocci were awarded with Fellowship of the ITP.

  • Published interviews with some more of our amazing award winners; Sandra Mardell (Mentor of the Year), Zoe Smith-Creasey (Graduate of the Year), Julie Osborne (Woman in Technology), Tom Buil (Engineer of the Year) and Mia Foxcroft (SME Apprentice of the Year).

  • Charlotte Goodwill was interviewed by UKTIN as a Telecoms Trailblazer.

  • Published our research report with Mpricial on time management and learning outcomes.

  • Demi Pearce and Lauren Holloway attended a Careers Fair in Woking.

  • New Member Insight Visit for January 2024 scheduled with the BT Emergency Response Team.


  • We started the month with our Meet the Team Series.

  • Charlie Ruddy, Christian McBride and John Wood were awarded Fellowship of the ITP.

  • Announced our partnership with Channel Live for 2024.

  • The final edition of the ITP Journal for 2024 landed on our members desks.

  • We celebrated Christmas in the office with Christmas Music and treats and ended the year with a team outing to Top Golf!
