A blog by Jade Hyland-Krafft, Installation Engineer Apprentice

Hey there! I'm Jade Hyland-Krafft, a 20-year-old currently doing a Level 3 Digital Communication Technician apprenticeship. It's been an exciting journey so far, especially considering I didn't have any previous experience in Telecoms.

Before joining the apprenticeship programme at Vorboss, I've had a range of experiences in different sectors like hospitality, retail, security, and bartending. But I wasn't happy with my last job and wanted a change. After doing research and applying for various roles, I was fortunate enough to apply for the apprenticeship, go through the assessment days, and be offered this amazing opportunity. What really attracted me to this job was the hands-on aspect, as I'm more of a practical learner. I've learned so much and grown as a person during this apprenticeship, and I'm really excited for what the future holds in the telecommunications industry.

I believe that my background and experiences contribute to the diversity of my team. I've got a creative mind and I'm a hard worker, which means I can often come up with unique ideas to solve problems that my colleagues might not have thought of. And it goes both ways too, as their perspectives greatly benefit me. Having a diverse workplace environment is important because it brings together different ideas and ultimately leads to better outcomes. It's also crucial that everyone is treated equally, regardless of their race, religion, or sexual status.

I've been incredibly fortunate to have an employer who welcomed and made me feel comfortable right from the start. They firmly believe that women can excel in jobs that have traditionally been seen as male roles. My gender was never seen as a barrier here. Promotions and rewards are based solely on merit and performance, not on things like race, religion, height, weight, or sexual status. Everyone is given equal opportunities to succeed, and it's been such a motivating environment.

I truly believe that everyone deserves a chance in life, and as individuals, we all grow and mature over time. Just because I'm a 20-year-old apprentice, it doesn't mean I can't excel in the same job as someone older than me. With the right training and support, age becomes irrelevant. And that's something I continue to receive here at Vorboss.

The skills I've learned during my time at Vorboss are not only valuable for my job but for life in general. It's not just about technical skills; we also develop important soft skills that will benefit us in various aspects of our lives.

So, if you're considering joining this sector, don't let anything hold you back! It's an incredible career with endless possibilities. This job has been the best I've ever had, and although it may seem overwhelming at first, with the right support, continuous learning, and time, you'll thrive.
