What is an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a paid position where employees gain valuable experience while learning on the job.
In addition to practical training, apprentices spend at least 20% of their working hours on classroom-based learning with a college, university, or training provider, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

How long does an apprenticeship take to complete?
The duration of an apprenticeship varies by the standard and job role, apprenticeships can take anywhere between two to five years to complete.
What is the age requirement for an apprenticeship?
You must be at least 16 years old to be eligible for an apprenticeship, and there is no maximum age limit.
Does it cost anything to do an apprenticeship?
No, the cost of your apprenticeship will be covered by the government and your employer, so it will be free for you.
Where does the apprenticeship training take place?
Most of our apprenticeship training is delivered entirely online. However, for certain programmes, you may need to attend external courses to obtain the necessary accreditations.
What qualifications will I need for the apprenticeship?
The minimum qualifications required for an apprenticeship can vary depending on the course. Some apprenticeships only require proof of GCSE qualifications in core subjects like maths and English, while others may require higher education qualifications or specific course-related credentials.
Do I need to be in a job to get an apprenticeship?
To complete an apprenticeship, you must be employed in a role relevant to the apprenticeship you wish to pursue, working a minimum of 30 hours per week. This can either be a job you’re already in or a position specifically advertised as an apprenticeship opportunity.
How much will I get paid?
Apprentices must be paid at least the National Minimum Wage for Apprentices, although many employers choose to offer higher wages. Your pay will vary depending on the sector, region, and apprenticeship level. Some apprentices may be eligible for extra funding, depending on their age.
What happens after the apprenticeship?
Upon completing your apprenticeship, several opportunities may be available to you, including:
Your employer may offer you a full-time position.
Your employer may encourage you to continue with further training.
You may choose to move to another employer, bringing with you your qualifications, knowledge, and at least 15 months of industry experience.
You can also apply for membership with the ITP and become professionally registered.
Do I get holidays and time off?
Yes, you will receive holiday time, though it may vary by employer. You are entitled to a minimum of 20 days of paid holiday per year, in addition to bank holidays.
