What to Expect
Before the Assessment Day
Before attending the assessment centre, you will have had a telephone interview with a member of our apprenticeship team.
If you pass this stage, you will be invited to an assessment day, which may take place either at the employer’s premises or online.
Ahead of the assessment centre, we will ask you to provide some information and complete a short engineering test and a writing task.
We aim to make the assessment day as stress-free as possible. Below is an overview of what to expect to help you prepare.
The Assessment Day
Information Session
The day will begin with an introduction to ITP and our apprenticeship programme. This session will cover:
Details about the apprenticeship and the specific job role
Your commitments as an apprentice and the support network available to you
Group Task
Next, you’ll take part in a fun and interactive group exercise - yes, it’s actually fun!
You and your team will work together to find a solution to a given challenge
Together, you’ll present your ideas to the rest of the group
Presentation & Interview
Ahead of the assessment day, you will have prepared a short presentation to showcase your motivation for the role.
You will present this to the employer and a member of the ITP team
This will be followed by a short interview to discuss your presentation and your interest in the apprenticeship
The entire day is carefully structured to help you feel as comfortable and confident as possible. We want to see the best version of you, and we believe that can only happen in a relaxed and supportive environment.
