2024 - a year in review

What a year it has been! As we look back on 2024, we are excited to share the incredible milestones, partnerships, and achievements that have shaped our community. It’s been a year of collaboration, growth, and some truly remarkable moments that we will cherish for years to come. Here’s a look at the highlights that made 2024 such a memorable year for ITP!

January

• Insight Visit with BT Emergency Response Team: We launched the year with a bang, hosting our first Insight Visit at our offices with the incredible BT Emergency Response team! What a fantastic way to reconnect and start the year on a high note.

• Working Groups Launch: The launch of our new working groups was a huge success, with a wave of applications from passionate individuals eager to shape the future of telecoms.

• Nurturing Talent & Breaking Barriers: We proudly published an inspiring article featuring an apprentice from Vorboss, focusing on how we can break down barriers and nurture the next generation of telecoms professionals.

• New Fellow Introduction: We welcomed the wonderful Lindsey Booth from Hyperoptic as our very first Fellow of 2024 - a huge congratulations!

• ITP Partner Lecture on Drones: Our ITP Partner Lecture series kicked off with an exciting session on drones and cellular connectivity, exploring the future of telecoms technology.

February

• 6G and Future Networks Conference: Another Partner Event announced on the future of telecoms with the 6G and Future Networks Conference.

• New Fellow & Industry Partnership: We were welcomed Jill Faure from Ofcom as our newest Fellow and celebrated Ofcom joining ITP as an Industry Partner!

• National Apprenticeship Week: National Apprenticeship Week was a huge highlight, featuring inspiring podcasts and interviews with our very own Danielle Tracey, Nadia Bailey, and a host of apprentices sharing their journeys. The future of our industry is in great hands!

March

• New Industry Partner: We were thrilled to welcome Cluttons as a new ITP Industry Partner.

• International Women’s Day: Our very own Lauren Holloway took the spotlight as we celebrated International Women’s Day with an podcast on gender equality in telecoms.

• Channel Live & CEO Moderation: Our CEO took the stage at Channel Live, hosting a roundtable and moderating a panel on the topic of training for a changing world.

• The ITP Journal Lands: The first edition of the 2024 ITP Journal was unveiled, bringing fresh insights and member news straight to your desks!

April

• ITP Telecoms Awards Launch: We launched the 2024 ITP Telecoms Awards with a bang! This is always a highlight of the year, and this time, it felt bigger and better than ever.

• New Fellows A big shoutout to Jamie Hayes from Cornerstone for being awarded with Fellowship of the ITP.

• Insight Visit to Viasat: What an unforgettable Insight Visit to Viasat! Members got an inside look at some of the most innovative work in the telecoms sector.

• New Editorial Board Member & Podcast Launch: We welcomed Alex Healing from BT to our Editorial Board and released our very first Member Podcast with Chris Starling from Avonline.

May

• Telecoms ICT Career Framework: We launched the very first Telecoms ICT Career Framework, setting the stage for career growth and industry development.

• New Fellow: A warm welcome to Pat Chapman Pincher from Defy Expectations, who joined as an ITP Fellow.

• Insight Visit & New Partner Events: Our members enjoyed an incredible Insight Visit to The National Museum of Computing, while we introduced exciting events like Next Giga Connect and Ignite Space 2024.

• Prince’s Trust Awards: Our CEO, Charlotte Goodwill, had the honour of attending the Prince’s Trust Award, further cementing our commitment to supporting young talent in the industry.

June

• Royal Signals Institutions Lecture: Another partner event with the Royal Signals Institutions.

• Joe Kimber’s Third Apprenticeship: Our very own Joe Kimber embarked on his third apprenticeship, setting a shining example for lifelong learning and growth.

• Webinar on Neurodiversity: We kicked off an important webinar focusing on neurodiversity in the workplace, a key area for progress and inclusivity in telecoms.

• Launch of the Apprenticeship Committee: The creation of the Apprenticeship Committee was an exciting step forward in ensuring our apprenticeship programs align with industry needs.

• Second ITP Journal Edition: Our second ITP Journal edition was published!

July

• Connected Britain & Connected Germany: We partnered with Total Telecom to launch both the Connected Britain and Connected Germany events.

• New Industry Partners: We welcomed new partners WHP Telecoms, Gateley Hamer, and Ricoh.

• New Member Benefit: We announced our partnership with TOTUM providing members a TOTUM card, offering amazing discounts for our members.

• Team Award Winner: Danielle Tracey’s unwavering dedication earned her the quarterly team award - thank you for going above and beyond, Danielle!

• Sad Goodbyes!: We said goodbye to our Finance Manager, Paul Seymour due to retirement after 17 years service with the ITP!

• New Team Member: We welcomed Hanna Bland to the team as our new Financial Controller!

August

• Paul O’Brien’s Retirement: We bid farewell to the fantastic Paul O’Brien, who retired after years of invaluable service to ITP. Wishing you all the best in this new chapter, Paul!

• New Board Member: We were thrilled to welcome Maria Cuevas from BT Group to the ITP Board.

• New Fellows: Congratulations to our new fellows: Tracey Wright, Leonard Besong, and Kemi Ariyo.

• Insight at Vodafone CNFE Launch: Joe Kimber and Sue Langridge shared the stage at the Vodafone CNFE launch, shining a spotlight on apprenticeships and the amazing work we do at ITP.

• New Working Group Launch: MITPS was launched, creating a new platform for telecoms surveying professionals to earn professional accreditation and enhance their careers.

September

• Telecoms Awards Finalists: The announcement of the 2024 ITP Telecoms Awards finalists was the moment we'd all been waiting for!

• Insight Visit to BT Adastral Park: Members had the incredible opportunity to visit BT’s Adastral Park.

• Leadership Course & Free Educational Resources: We launched the ITP Leadership Course and free educational resources, empowering our members to excel in their careers.

October

• Telecoms Awards 2024: The ITP Telecoms Awards at The Royal Lancaster were nothing short of spectacular—our biggest event yet! Celebrating excellence in telecoms with all of our incredible members was nothing short of incredible!

• CNFE Apprenticeships: We enrolled our first-ever CNFE apprentices with WHP Telecoms—marking another exciting milestone in our apprenticeship journey.

November

• New Conference Partnership: We introduced a new conference in partnership with FITCE, focusing on the future of Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks which will take place in September 2025.

• Quarterly Team Award Winners: Congratulations to Lauren Holloway and Joe Kimber for winning the Team Awards, recognising their exceptional contributions to ITP and wider industry.

• Mentor of the Year Spotlight: We had the privilege of interviewing Mark Rotheram, VMO2, our 2024 Mentor of the Year, in an exclusive feature!

December

• Apprenticeship Interviews: Lauren Holloway and Joe Kimber visited Momentum Recruitment to interview aspiring telecoms apprentices.

• Final Journal Edition: The fourth and final edition of the 2024 Journal was released, closing out the year with a bang.

• New Industry Partner: We welcomed Telenco as our latest Industry Partner, rounding out a year of incredible growth and new collaborations.

2024 has been a year of connection, celebration, and innovation! We’ve made amazing strides, forged new partnerships, and, most importantly, supported the incredible talent that drives the future of our industry.
